CONCERTS & WORKSHOPS:
Festival of Russian Music, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 7:00pm
This year’s concert will be held in Cartwright Hall at Kent State University main campus. Victor Gorodinsky, Russian-born conductor, arranger, instrumentalist, and scholar from Madison, Wisconsin, will conduct the concert.
The domra guest artist is Alexander Tsygankov from Moscow with his wife Inna Schevchenko. Tsygankov is the world’s leading domra player, has been called the “Russian Paganini” and holds the coveted title “Distinguished Artist of Russia”. Inna, his wife, holds the title of “Honored Artist of Russia” and is a renowned piano soloist and accompanist. The balalaika guest artist is Tetiana Khomenko, the pioneering young balalaika artist from Kiev, Ukraine.

Food & Fun:
You’ll be inspired early on with a lovely welcome party, “A Taste of Ohio,” scheduled for the evening of Sunday, July 5. Special entertainment will be provided. Be sure to check back later for further information.
The rest of the week will provide memorable opportunities to unwind, meet new friends, and enjoy jam sessions! There will be plenty of room on the dance floor, an opportunity to express one’s self at Open-Mic night, the legendary Zakuski night!
You are sure to be impressed and enchanted with the Gala Banquet on Friday evening, held at the state-of-the-art St. Nicholas Banquet Center on the beautiful, expansive, and majestic grounds of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church near Akron.
